Company Discovery List Builder MCP server
by mambalabsdev
Ask your AI to build a list of companies that are hiring for a role, or SEC filers that mention a phrase.
This is a helper that lets your AI build company lists for you. You give it a market description, like a job role and a location, or a phrase you want to find in SEC filings. It is handy for sales people, recruiters, and researchers who need a list of companies fast.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to a company discovery tool, so when you ask for companies hiring in a certain city, the AI can go get that list for you. You just ask in plain language and the AI does the work behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You tell your AI what kind of companies you want, like "companies hiring account executives in London" or "US companies whose SEC filings mention agentic AI". Your AI passes that request to this helper. The helper goes to a live index of public job boards, or searches SEC filings, and finds matching companies. Then it hands the list back to your AI, which shows it to you in the chat. You can also ask it to skip very small companies or limit how many you get back.
What you can do with it
- Find companies currently hiring for a specific role in a location
- Find US SEC filers whose filings contain a phrase you choose
- Limit the list to companies with at least a certain number of open jobs
- Control how many companies you get back, from 1 to 2000
- Look up company websites automatically (on by default)
- Search only certain SEC form types, like 10-K or 10-Q
Try asking your AI
- “Build a list of 50 companies hiring software engineers in Berlin”
- “Find US companies whose 10-K filings mention agentic AI, up to 100 companies”
- “List companies hiring account executives in New York with at least 5 open roles”
- “Show me companies hiring product managers remotely, 20 results, no website lookup”
What it gives back to you
It gives you a list of companies that match your request. Each company comes with details from the search, like its name and sometimes its website. If you asked for the SEC filings mode, you get filers that mention your phrase. The result appears in the chat as a list you can read or copy out.
Before you start
What you need
- An Apify account and an Apify token, which is a kind of password for apps and comes free from the Apify website
Good to know
Running this costs Apify credits, charged per company returned, so set a max_companies or max_charge_usd to keep costs under control.
