Legal Entity Resolver MCP server
by mambalabsdev
Turn a company domain into its registered legal entity: legal name, company number, jurisdiction, status, LEI and VAT number.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to a service called the Legal Entity Resolver. You give it a company website address, like monzo.com, and it looks up the official registered company behind that website. It is handy for anyone who needs to check who they are really dealing with before signing a contract, sending an invoice, or adding a company to a customer list.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one extra skill, in this case the ability to look up registered company details. When you ask your AI about a company, it quietly passes your question to this helper, which talks to the Legal Entity Resolver service and brings the answer back. You never have to leave the chat to get the information.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like: what is the registered company behind monzo.com. Your AI sends that domain to this helper. The helper passes it to the Legal Entity Resolver service, which searches official company registers such as UK Companies House, GLEIF and SEC EDGAR. The service returns one row of details for that company, and your AI shows it to you in the chat. If no confident match is found, you get a clear empty answer instead of a wrong one.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Look up the registered legal name behind a company website
- Get the official company number and the country it is registered in
- Check the current status of a company, such as active or dissolved
- Find the LEI, a global identifier used in finance
- Find the VAT number and cross-check it against the EU VIES service
- Look up a company by its legal name when you already have it
- See why a match was rejected when the result is uncertain
Try asking your AI
- “What is the registered legal entity behind monzo.com?”
- “Find the company number and jurisdiction for stripe.com”
- “Look up the legal name Revolut Ltd in the UK register”
- “Does the VAT number on this company's site match the register name?”
What it gives back to you
You get a single row of company details: legal name, company number, jurisdiction, status, LEI and VAT number, plus a few extra fields. Alongside that, you see how confident the match is, how it was matched, and any candidates that were rejected. If nothing matched, you get a clear empty result rather than a guess. It all appears as plain text in your chat.
Before you start
What you need
- An Apify account with some credits on it
- An Apify API token, which you can copy from your Apify account settings
- Node.js installed on your computer if you run it yourself
Good to know
Each lookup costs Apify credits, so check your balance and use the cache where you can; also read the match confidence before acting on a result, because a fuzzy match can be wrong.
