VisiMark MCP server
Your AI can check that every number in a Markdown document still matches its formula, and fix the ones that don't.
VisiMark is a helper for Markdown documents that contain numbers. It checks that each calculated number still matches the formula that produced it, and it can repair the ones that drifted. It is handy if you or your AI write reports, invoices, quotes or budgets in Markdown and want the totals to stay correct.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to VisiMark, a tool that reads Markdown files and checks the numbers inside them. Once it is connected, you can ask your AI to verify or repair a document, and it will use VisiMark to do the work.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to check a Markdown file. The AI passes that request to this helper, which reads the file and recomputes every formula it finds. It compares the stored numbers with the freshly computed ones and reports any that no longer agree. If you ask it to fix them, it can plan the repair and then apply it, but only when you clearly say yes.
What you can do with it
- Check a Markdown document for numbers that no longer match their formulas
- List every stale or broken number with its line and formula
- Plan a repair for a document without changing anything yet
- Apply the repair to fix stale numbers in place
- Explain how a sheet's inputs, rules and evaluation order fit together
- Show the computed value of a named number in a document
- Propose formulas for a plain table that has no formulas yet
Try asking your AI
- “Check docs/example-invoice.md and tell me which numbers are stale”
- “Plan a repair for docs/example-invoice-drift.md but don't write anything yet”
- “Apply the repair to docs/example-invoice-drift.md and show me what changed”
- “What is the value of lines.gross_total in docs/example-invoice.md?”
What it gives back to you
You get back a list of findings, each with the line, the stored value, the recomputed value and the formula. When you ask for a repair, you get a plan first, then a summary of the changes it made. For a single value, you get just that number. Everything appears as plain text in your chat.
Before you start
What you need
- The VisiMark MCP server installed and running on your computer
- A Markdown file that uses VisiMark formulas, or one you want to check
Good to know
It can change numbers in your Markdown files when you ask it to apply a repair, so keep a copy or use version control before writing.
Install it with your AI
