ParserBee MCP server
by ParserBee · official
Lets your AI pull the details out of invoices, receipts and bank statements and hand them back as neat data.
ParserBee is a service that reads documents like invoices and receipts and pulls out the important details for you. This MCP server connects ParserBee to your AI assistant, so you can ask for those details right in your chat. It is handy if you deal with paperwork and want the numbers out of it without retyping anything.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot open a PDF on your computer and read the totals out of it. An MCP server is a small helper program you attach to your AI, and it gives the AI one new skill. This one connects your AI to ParserBee, so when you ask about a document, your AI can send it to ParserBee and bring the answer back to you.
What this MCP server does
You point your AI at a document, either a file on your computer or a link to one online. Your AI passes it to ParserBee along with the Parser Template (a saved list of the fields you want) you choose. ParserBee reads the document and fills in those fields. Your AI then shows you the results in the chat, as a list of values with their names. It can also tell you how many pages you have left and show your past extractions.
What you can do with it
- Pull fields like invoice number, vendor and total out of a PDF or photo
- Read a whole folder of receipts and give you one combined table
- Send a public document link instead of a local file
- See which Parser Templates you have and what fields each one collects
- Check your page credit balance and plan
- Look back at your last extraction requests and their results
Try asking your AI
- “Extract the invoice in my Downloads folder called inv-2041.pdf with my Invoice template”
- “Read every receipt in this folder and give me a table of merchant, date and total”
- “How many ParserBee page credits do I have left?”
- “Show me the last 10 documents I extracted and what came out of them”
What it gives back to you
You get the values ParserBee found, laid out with the field names from your template, so it reads like a small table or list in the chat. Each extraction also comes with a request ID and how many credits it used, and it tells you how many pages you have left. If something went wrong, like a wrong key or an empty balance, you get a plain message about what to fix.
Before you start
What you need
- A ParserBee account (free to start, 25 free pages)
- A Parser Template in that account, telling ParserBee which fields to collect
- Your ParserBee API key from Settings, which starts with pk_
- Node.js 18 or later, plus the Claude desktop app or another AI tool that supports MCP
Good to know
Each extraction spends page credits from your ParserBee account, so a folder full of documents can use up quite a few at once.
