Gate402 is a helper that plugs into your AI chat and lets it do paid jobs on the web, like scraping a page, checking a crypto token on Base, or pulling the latest SEC filing for a company. You pay a tiny amount per call, and you get a small free credit the first time you use it, so there is nothing to sign up for. It is handy if you want your AI to reach outside the chat and fetch real data without you setting up lots of accounts.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect to your AI, and it gives the AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Gate402, a paid service that runs tasks on the web and on the Base blockchain. Once it is connected, you can just ask your AI in normal words, and it will use this helper to go do the job and bring the answer back.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like "scrape this page and give me the text" or "what is the risk on this Base token". Your AI passes that request to the Gate402 helper running on your computer. The helper sends the job to the Gate402 service, which does the work, like fetching a web page, checking a wallet, or looking up a filing. The result comes back to your AI, and your AI shows it to you in the chat. Each paid call costs a small amount, and the first few are covered by a free credit.

What you can do with it

  • Scrape a public web page and turn it into clean Markdown text
  • Fetch a page that is behind anti-bot protection using stealth mode
  • Check a Base wallet or token for balances and basic details
  • Get a rug-risk verdict for a Base token before you trade it
  • Read the latest SEC filings for a US stock ticker
  • Pull recent news headlines and sentiment for a topic
  • Count tokens or repair messy JSON without paying anything

Try asking your AI

  • “Scrape this article and give me the main text in Markdown”
  • “What is the rug risk on this Base token address”
  • “Get me the latest 10-K filing for Apple”
  • “What is the current DEX price and liquidity for this Base token”

What it gives back to you

You get back plain answers in the chat, like a block of Markdown text from a page, a short verdict such as SAFE or CAUTION, a list of recent filings, or a price and liquidity number. Some tools also give you a signed receipt that shows what was used. Free tools like token counting or JSON repair just return the number or the fixed text right away. Everything shows up as normal chat text you can copy.

Before you start

What you need

  • The Claude desktop app or another app that supports MCP servers
  • Node.js installed on your computer (the free helper runs through it)
  • A small amount of credit on Gate402 once the free tier runs out (you get a top-up link in the chat)

Good to know

Paid tools spend real money from your Gate402 credit, so keep an eye on your balance and only run the calls you actually need.
