PostalDataPI MCP server
by PostalDataPI
Your AI can look up, check and search postal codes in 240+ countries, with timezone and location details.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to a postal code lookup service called PostalDataPI. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI things like what city a ZIP code belongs to, or whether a postcode is real, and it will fetch the answer for you. It is handy for anyone who deals with addresses, shipping, or customer locations.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This particular helper connects your AI to PostalDataPI, a postal code database. So when you ask about a ZIP code or a postcode, your AI can actually look it up instead of guessing.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about a postal code, like what city it is in or whether it is valid. Your AI passes that question to this helper program. The helper talks to PostalDataPI over the internet and gets the answer. Then your AI shows you the result in the chat, in plain words. You do not have to visit any website or fill in any forms yourself.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Look up the city and region for a postal code
- Check whether a postal code is real in a given country
- Find all postal codes that belong to a city
- Get coordinates, timezone and elevation for a postal code
- See the state, county and municipality a postal code sits in
- Compare postal codes across different countries
Try asking your AI
- “What city is ZIP code 90210?”
- “Is 10115 a valid German postal code?”
- “What are the postal codes for Beverly Hills, CA?”
- “Get the coordinates and timezone for postal code 100-0001 in Japan”
What it gives back to you
You get the answer written out in the chat, like the city name, the state or region, and a short abbreviation. For deeper questions you also get numbers such as latitude, longitude, elevation, and the timezone. If you ask for all postal codes in a city, you get a list. Everything shows up as normal text in your conversation.
