by ragieai

Let your AI search your Ragie knowledge base and pull back the right passages when you ask a question.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to a Ragie knowledge base. A Ragie knowledge base is a place where documents from tools like Google Drive, Notion and Jira are gathered and kept searchable. It is handy if your team keeps its answers in those places and you want your AI to look things up there instead of guessing.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill or one new connection. This helper connects your AI to Ragie, your team's searchable document store. Once it is set up, you can ask a normal question and the AI quietly asks Ragie for the matching passages before it answers you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question in plain words. The AI passes your question to this helper, which sends it to your Ragie knowledge base. Ragie looks through the documents it has indexed and finds the passages that match best. The helper hands those passages back to the AI, and the AI uses them to write its answer. You just see the answer in the chat, with the source text behind it.

What you can do with it

  • Search your Ragie knowledge base with a plain question
  • Pull back the most relevant passages from your indexed documents
  • Ask for more or fewer results depending on how broad you want the search
  • Favour the freshest documents when the topic changes often
  • Limit the search to one part of the knowledge base if your team splits it up
  • Get answers grounded in your own company documents instead of general knowledge

Try asking your AI

  • “What does our onboarding policy say about the first week?”
  • “Find anything in our knowledge base about the Q3 pricing change.”
  • “Summarise what our Notion pages say about the support escalation process.”
  • “Search our docs for the latest security review notes.”

What it gives back to you

You get the matching passages from your knowledge base, shown as text in the chat. Usually the AI turns them into a short answer with the relevant details. If you ask for a summary, you get a summary; if you ask a direct question, you get a direct answer. The raw passages are there too, so you can see where the answer came from.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Ragie account with a knowledge base that already has documents in it
  • A Ragie API key (a kind of password for apps; Ragie gives you one in your account settings)
  • Node.js 18 or newer on the computer where you run it
  • The Claude desktop app or Cursor if you want to use it there

Good to know

This helper only reads from your knowledge base, but it can see whatever documents your Ragie API key has access to, so keep that key private.

Install it with your AI
