Serve MCP server
by servelink-swyftlabs · official
Your AI can turn a file, folder, or local app into a public web link you can share.

Serve is a service that gives the things you make a real web address. You ask your AI for a link, and you get one you can text to a friend or drop in a chat. It is handy for anyone who builds or writes something with AI and then wants someone else to see it.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Serve, so when you ask for a link, the AI can actually create it for you. You never have to run commands yourself; you just ask in plain words.
What this MCP server does
You tell your AI something like 'serve me this' or 'put this online for my client'. The AI uses this helper to talk to Serve, which sets up a link to your file, folder, or running app. Serve can either keep the link live from your own computer or hold a copy on its servers so the link keeps working when your laptop is closed. Then the AI tells you the URL, and you can share it. When you are done, you can ask the AI to take it down.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Turn a file or folder into a public web link
- Share a local app or dev server through a live link
- Put a password on a link so only the right people can open it
- Keep a link working for a set time, even after you close your laptop
- Pick a readable name for your link instead of a random one
- See what you are currently sharing
- Take down one link or all of them at once
Try asking your AI
- “Serve me this so I can check it on my phone.”
- “Put the deck somewhere my client can open it, and password-protect it.”
- “This link is going in an email, so make sure it still works next week.”
- “What am I sharing right now?”
What it gives back to you
You get a web address back in the chat, something like https://lively-bison-4821.servelink.cc. The AI may also tell you whether the link runs from your machine or is kept on Serve's servers, and whether a password was set. If you ask what you are sharing, you get a short list of your current links. If something is not covered by your plan, the AI says so instead of doing half the job.
Before you start
What you need
- A Serve account (free tier available)
- The serve client installed, either with npm or Homebrew
- An AI tool that speaks MCP, such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or Cursor
Good to know
Serve's relay can see tunneled traffic in plaintext, so do not share production secrets or anything you would rather they could not technically see.
Install it with your AI
Add Serve MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Serve MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who makes things with AI and wants to share them, from developers to people building a quick dashboard or sales deck.
