devpulse MCP server

by tao-izm

Lets your AI see your local dev setup: framework, running services, recent errors and git state.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Why won't my dev server start?”, on your own computer the devpulse MCP server works with your computer, and you get back A short health snapshot.

devpulse is a small helper that lets your AI coding assistant peek at your own computer while you work. Instead of you copying and pasting the same details about your project every time, the AI can just look. It is handy if you use Claude Code, Cursor, or a similar coding assistant and keep getting asked what is wrong.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something on your machine. This one connects your AI to your local dev environment, so it can check what is running, what broke, and which branch you are on. You ask a question, and the AI quietly asks devpulse for the facts before answering.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like why your app will not start. The AI calls devpulse, which looks at your project folder, your package file, your logs, and your git state. devpulse puts together a short snapshot: which framework you use, which ports are busy, what errors just appeared, and what is uncommitted. The AI reads that snapshot and gives you an answer without you explaining anything. It all happens on your own computer.

What you can do with it

  • See which framework your project uses
  • Check which dev ports are running and which are missing
  • Read recent errors from your log files with secrets removed
  • See your current git branch and how many files are uncommitted
  • Get a plain diagnosis of what is broken and what to try next
  • Spot a port conflict before you waste time debugging

Try asking your AI

  • “Why won't my dev server start?”
  • “What errors showed up in my logs in the last few minutes?”
  • “Is anything running on port 3000 right now?”
  • “What branch am I on and do I have uncommitted changes?”

What it gives back to you

You get a short, readable snapshot in the chat: a health verdict, the main issue, and a suggested action. It also lists your project name, framework, branch, and uncommitted file count. Recent errors appear with timestamps and levels, and running or missing services are shown as port numbers. The AI uses all of this to answer your question directly.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer
  • An AI coding assistant that supports MCP, such as Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop, or Windsurf
  • A project folder you are working in

Good to know

It reads files in your project folder, including logs, so make sure you are comfortable with your AI assistant seeing that content, though secrets are stripped from log output.

Install it with your AI

Add devpulse MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check devpulse MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
