Safe Docx MCP server
by UseJunior
Let your AI read, search, and carefully edit Word .docx files while keeping the formatting and showing tracked changes.

Safe Docx is a small helper program that lets your AI assistant work with Word documents. You can ask it to find a sentence, change a clause, or compare two versions, and it edits the file while keeping the rest of the document untouched. It is handy for anyone who deals with contracts, reports, or any .docx file and wants help without losing the formatting.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Word .docx files on your computer, so it can open them, look things up, and make changes when you ask. You stay in charge: the AI uses Safe Docx to do the work, and you get the result back.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI to do something with a Word file, like change a name or fix a clause. The AI passes your request to Safe Docx, which opens the .docx file on your computer. Safe Docx finds the exact spot, makes the change, and keeps the rest of the document's formatting as it was. It can save a clean copy or a copy that shows the changes as tracked changes, so you can review them. Then it tells your AI what it did, and your AI tells you.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Read and search inside a Word .docx file
- Make a targeted edit, like changing a sentence or a number
- Save a clean copy and a tracked-changes copy of the same file
- Compare two versions of a document
- Add or read comments and footnotes
- Convert between .docx and OpenDocument formats
- Keep the original formatting while editing
Try asking your AI
- “Open Contract.docx and tell me what the payment terms say.”
- “In Report.docx, change the date from March 3 to March 10. Save a clean copy and a tracked-changes copy.”
- “Compare Draft1.docx and Draft2.docx and list what is different.”
- “Add a comment in Proposal.docx next to the budget section that says needs review.”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, like a summary of what the document says or a list of differences between two files. When it makes changes, it saves new files on your computer and tells you the file names. If you asked for tracked changes, you can open the file in Word and see each edit marked for review. It also reports what it changed so you can check the work.
