codearia-sieve MCP server
by AntonG87
Turn any web page into clean facts, dates and chunks your AI can actually use, with the token cost shown.

codearia-sieve is a small helper that reads a web page for you and hands your AI a tidy version of it. Instead of a messy pile of menus, banners and footers, you get dates as real dates, numbers with their units, and text cut into pieces that fit. It is handy if you often ask your AI to look something up on a website and want a straight answer, not a wall of copied text.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with what it already knows or what you paste in. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill. This one gives it the skill of reading a web page properly. When you ask your AI to check a page, the AI calls codearia-sieve, and the helper fetches the page, cleans it up and hands back a neat summary with the important bits marked.
What this MCP server does
You give your AI a web address, or just ask it about a page. The AI passes that address to codearia-sieve. The helper fetches the page, strips out the clutter, and turns dates into dates and numbers into facts with units. It then cuts the remaining text into pieces that fit your AI's memory, and each piece points back to the spot on the page it came from. Your AI gets that clean version plus a note of how many tokens it saved.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Read a web page and pull out its main text
- Turn written dates like September 15, 2026 into 2026-09-15
- Find numbers with units, like a price per million tokens
- Split long articles into pieces that fit your AI's memory
- Show how many tokens the page cost before and after cleaning
- Tell you when a page is blocked, behind a paywall or needs JavaScript
- Point each fact back to the part of the page it came from
Try asking your AI
- “Read this page and tell me when it was published”
- “What does this pricing page say about the cost per million tokens”
- “Summarise the main points of this article for me”
- “Check this page and tell me if it mentions a refund policy”
What it gives back to you
You get back a clean version of the page: a title, a list of facts with their units, and text split into chunks. Each chunk has a size, a heading and a link back to the spot on the page. You also see the token count before and after, so you know what was saved. If something went wrong, like a paywall or a blocked page, you get a short warning instead of a fake answer.
Before you start
What you need
- The Claude desktop app or another AI tool that can use MCP servers
- Node.js installed on your computer (the free program that runs it)
- An internet connection
Good to know
It only reads pages, it does not change or delete anything, but it does follow each site's robots.txt rules, so some pages will be refused and you will see a warning instead.
