Wenyan is a tool that takes a Markdown article and turns it into nicely styled content for WeChat Official Accounts. This MCP server connects that tool to your AI chat, so you can write and publish without leaving the conversation. It is handy for anyone who writes for a WeChat account and is tired of copying text between editors.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill. This one gives your AI a connection to Wenyan, the formatting and publishing tool for WeChat Official Accounts. Once it is set up, your AI can ask Wenyan to style your Markdown and place the result in your drafts when you ask.

What this MCP server does

You write or paste a Markdown article in your chat and tell the AI what you want. The AI passes your request to this helper, which uses the Wenyan engine. Wenyan applies a theme, uploads any images in the article to your WeChat media library, and creates a draft in your Official Account. Then the AI tells you it is done and gives you the media ID so you can find the draft.

What it gives back to you

You get short chat replies that confirm what happened. For a theme list, the AI shows the theme names and a one-line description of each. For a publish, you get a confirmation with the theme used and a media ID, plus a reminder to check your drafts in the WeChat backend. If something fails, the AI tells you what went wrong.

Before you start

What you need

Node.js installed on your computer
A WeChat Official Account with its App ID and App Secret (these are like a username and password for your account, found in the WeChat backend)
Your computer's IP address added to the WeChat Official Account IP whitelist (a list of allowed addresses in the WeChat backend)

Good to know

It can create drafts and upload images to your real WeChat Official Account, so check the draft in the WeChat backend before you publish it to your readers.
