searchts is a small helper that lets your AI read web pages and search the internet for you. It is made for people who want their AI to fetch real pages and real search results, not just guess from memory. If you use ChatGPT or Claude for research and keep hitting pages it cannot open, this is for you.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, here the ability to open web pages and search the web. Once searchts is connected, your AI can ask it to fetch a page, run a search, or grab a video transcript, and searchts does the actual work. You just ask in normal words, and the helper handles the rest.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI to read a page or search for something. Your AI passes that request to searchts, which runs on your own computer. searchts tries a few ways to fetch the page, starting simple and getting more clever if the site blocks it, then turns the page into clean Markdown text. Your AI reads that text and answers you. It can also search across several search engines at once and merge the results, or pull the transcript from a video link.

What you can do with it

  • Read a web page and turn it into clean text your AI can use
  • Search the web across several providers and merge the results
  • Open shared AI chat links from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and others
  • Download a video's transcript from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Reddit
  • Grab a page's images, fonts, and color palette
  • Download a single file like an image, PDF, or font
  • Check which parts of the tool are set up and working

Try asking your AI

  • “Read this page and summarize the main points: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ada_Lovelace”
  • “Search the web for open source vector databases and give me the top five”
  • “Get the transcript of this video: https://youtu.be/example”
  • “Read this shared ChatGPT conversation and list the advice it gives”

What it gives back to you

You get back clean text in your chat: a page turned into Markdown, a list of search results with titles and links, a full video transcript, or a short report about what was downloaded. For shared AI chats, you get the whole conversation with each speaker labeled. If a page has more content than it returned, searchts tells you so.

Before you start

What you need

  • Python installed on your computer

  • The Claude desktop app or another AI tool that supports MCP servers

Good to know

It reads pages from your own internet connection, so be mindful of each site's terms of service and avoid using it for mass scraping.
