Dataverse MCP server
by codeurali
Lets your AI read and change records in Microsoft Dataverse for you, safely.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Microsoft Dataverse, the place where Power Platform apps keep their data. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to look up records, add new ones, or check what tables exist, and it will do it for you. It is handy if you work with Dataverse or Power Apps and want to skip a lot of clicking around.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Microsoft Dataverse, so it can look things up or make changes there when you ask. You stay in the chat, and the helper does the talking to Dataverse behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something in normal words, like to find a customer or add a note. The AI uses this helper to talk to your Dataverse environment. The helper signs in with your Microsoft work account, runs the request, and sends the answer back. Your AI then shows you the result in the chat, as a list, a summary, or a confirmation that something changed. It can also check the structure of your tables so it does not guess column names.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Look up records in any table you have access to
- Create, update, or delete records
- Run OData and FetchXML queries
- Inspect tables, columns, and relationships
- Upload or download file and image columns
- Check audit logs and workflow trace logs
- Publish customizations and manage users and roles
Try asking your AI
- “Show me the last 10 accounts created this month”
- “Add a note to the contact named Jane Doe”
- “What columns does the Account table have?”
- “Find all open cases assigned to me”
What it gives back to you
You get answers right in the chat: lists of records, short summaries, counts, or the details of a single item. When it changes something, it tells you what it did. When it looks at your setup, it shows table names, column names, and relationships. Everything comes back in a tidy shape with a short summary and a few suggested next steps.
