TickTick MCP server

by ekkyarmandi

Let your AI read and manage your TickTick projects and tasks for you, in plain words.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Show me my tasks due this week”, the TickTick MCP server connects it to TickTick, and you get back your tasks in the chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your TickTick account. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to look at your to-do lists, add tasks, or tick things off, and it will do it in TickTick for you. It is handy if you live in TickTick all day and want to skip the clicking.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill or one new connection. This particular helper connects your AI to TickTick, your task app. So when you ask about your tasks, the AI can actually look them up in TickTick and change them there, instead of just talking about them.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your tasks, like what is due this week. The AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to TickTick using your account details and the TickTick API, which is just the official way apps are allowed to talk to TickTick. TickTick sends back the projects and tasks, and the helper hands them to your AI. Your AI then shows you the answer in the chat, or makes the change you asked for.

What you can do with it

  • List all your TickTick projects
  • Show the details of one project or one task
  • Create a new project
  • Add a new task to a project
  • Update the details of an existing task
  • Mark a task as complete
  • Delete a task

Try asking your AI

  • “Show me all my TickTick projects”
  • “Create a new project called Home Renovation”
  • “Add a task to buy groceries tomorrow”
  • “Mark my Pay bills task as complete”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, in normal sentences or lists. For example, it can show you your projects, the tasks inside one project, or the details of a single task. When you ask it to change something, it tells you what it did, like that a task was created, updated, completed, or deleted.

Before you start

What you need

  • A TickTick account
  • A TickTick API key, which you get by registering an app in TickTick's developer portal and going through a short authorization step
  • Python 3.8 or newer on the machine that runs the helper

Good to know

It can change and delete things in your TickTick account, so be careful when you ask it to update or remove a task.
