Groundmail MCP server
by Groundmail
Send and track transactional emails, manage sending domains, templates and webhooks from your AI chat.
Groundmail is an email service for the messages your apps send automatically, like password resets, receipts and signup confirmations. This MCP server connects your AI assistant to your Groundmail account so you can send emails, check what got delivered and set up your sending domain just by asking. It is handy if you work with a product team and deal with customer emails, but you are not a developer.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Groundmail, your email sending service. Once it is connected, you can ask your AI to send an email or check a delivery report, and it will actually do that in your Groundmail account for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something in plain words, like sending a password reset email or checking whether your last emails arrived. The AI passes that request to this helper, which talks to your Groundmail account. Groundmail then sends the email or looks up the information you asked for. The AI brings the result back into your chat, so you see the answer or the confirmation right there.
What you can do with it
- Send a transactional email to a customer from one of your sending addresses
- Check whether your recent emails were delivered and see any bounces
- Add a new sending domain and apply the DNS records through Cloudflare, Vercel, GoDaddy, Netlify, DigitalOcean or DNSimple
- Look at your deliverability and DMARC reports over the last few days
- Create, update or pause a tenant for each customer you send email for
- Test an email by sending it to a test address and reading the code and links inside
- Manage templates, webhooks and suppression lists
Try asking your AI
- “Send a password reset email to ada@example.com from noreply@mail.acme.com”
- “Did my last 10 emails get delivered? Show any bounces”
- “Add mail.acme.com as a sending domain and apply the DNS records on Cloudflare”
- “How is my deliverability over the last 7 days?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your chat: a confirmation that an email was sent, a list of recent emails with their delivery status, a summary of bounces, or the results of a domain setup. When you ask for deliverability or DMARC numbers, you see them as a short report. If something changed in your account, like a new domain or a paused tenant, the AI tells you what it did.
Before you start
What you need
- A Groundmail account (free covers 3,000 emails a month)
- An MCP client like Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT or Cursor
- For the hosted server, just sign in through your browser when asked
- For the local version, an API key from Groundmail (a kind of password for apps; the site gives you one)
Good to know
This server can send real emails and change things in your Groundmail account, like domains and suppressions, so check what the AI is about to do before you say yes.
