wigolo MCP server
by KnockOutEZ
Let your AI search the web, read pages, crawl sites and gather research, all on your own machine.

wigolo is a free helper you install on your own computer. It gives your AI assistant a set of web skills: searching, opening pages, crawling sites and putting together research. It is handy for anyone who wants their AI to look things up online without paying per search or sending their questions to a cloud service.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to the web, and it runs right on your machine. So when you ask your AI to look something up, it can actually go and search, read pages and bring answers back to you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question that needs the web. Your AI passes that request to wigolo, which runs quietly in the background on your computer. wigolo searches several search engines at once, opens the pages that look useful, and pulls out the text. It keeps a local copy of everything it has seen, so asking again is instant. Then your AI turns all of that into an answer for you, with the sources listed.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search the web across many search engines at once
- Open a web page and read its text, links and details
- Crawl a whole site, page by page, and collect what it finds
- Pull structured data like tables, prices or recipe details from a page
- Reuse pages you already looked at, without searching again
- Find pages similar to one you liked
- Run a research question and get a written answer with sources
Try asking your AI
- “Search the web for the latest rules on remote work in Germany and summarise the top three sources”
- “Open this page and give me the main points in plain English”
- “Crawl this company's blog and list every article title from this year”
- “Research whether standing desks actually help with back pain and cite your sources”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your chat, not raw files. Depending on what you asked, that can be a list of search results with titles and links, a summary of a page, a table of extracted data, or a written report with numbered sources. wigolo also tells your AI when a page could not be read or when a result looked weak, so the answer is honest about what it found.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js version 20 or newer
- About 1.5 GB of free disk space
- A free Gemini API key if you want finished written research answers (optional; search and reading work without it)
Good to know
It reads and stores web pages on your computer, so be careful about pointing it at private or internal pages you would not want kept in a local cache.
Install it with your AI
Add wigolo MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check wigolo MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone whose AI assistant needs to look things up online, especially researchers, analysts, writers and support staff who do not want to pay per search.
