Confluence MCP server
by KS-GEN-AI
Let your AI search, read, and update your Confluence pages for you.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Confluence, the place where your team keeps its pages and notes. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to find pages, read them, or update them without clicking around yourself. It is handy for anyone who spends time digging through Confluence for information.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Confluence, so it can look things up or make changes there when you ask. You stay in the chat, and the helper does the running around behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about your Confluence pages, like finding a page about a topic or reading a specific page. The AI passes your request to this helper program. The helper talks to Confluence using your account details and runs the search or fetch. The result comes back to the AI, which shows it to you in the chat. If you ask it to update a page, the helper sends the new content to Confluence and confirms it went through.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search Confluence pages using a CQL query
- Read the full content of a page by its page ID
- Update the content of an existing page
- Change a page title while updating it
- Limit how many search results come back
- Pull page text into the chat so you can ask follow-up questions
Try asking your AI
- “Search Confluence for pages about our onboarding process”
- “Read the page with ID 123456 and summarize it”
- “Update page 123456 with this new content and keep the same title”
- “Find the last 5 pages that mention the word roadmap”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat: a list of matching pages, the text of a page you asked for, or a short confirmation that an update was made. Search results usually come back as page titles and IDs you can use for the next step. Page content comes back as the text of the page, which your AI can then summarize or quote.
Before you start
What you need
- A Confluence account (Atlassian cloud)
- Your Confluence site address, like https://yourcompany.atlassian.net/wiki
- The email you use for Confluence
- An Atlassian API token (a kind of password for apps; you create one for free in your Atlassian account settings)
Good to know
It can change the content of your Confluence pages, so double-check anything it is about to update before you say yes.
