KitchenSink4Word MCP server
Let your AI edit real Word documents: text, tables, tracked changes, citations and more.

KitchenSink4Word is a helper that lets your AI assistant work on actual Word .docx files on your Windows computer. You can ask it to fix a report, build a table, add footnotes or leave tracked changes, and the file really changes. It is handy for anyone who spends their day in Word and wants the boring parts done for them.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app, and here it connects your AI to Word documents on your machine. Once it is set up, you ask in plain words, the AI picks the right tool from this helper, and the helper does the work on the file. You stay in charge: nothing happens until you ask.
What this MCP server does
You tell your AI what you want done to a Word file, for example tidy up the headings or add a table. The AI calls this helper, and the helper opens the .docx file on your computer and makes the change. If the document is open in Microsoft Word, the helper can edit it live so you watch the changes appear. When it is done, you get a short answer back in the chat saying what changed. Your files stay on your computer; only what your AI app sends to its own provider leaves it.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Edit text, paragraphs, headings and lists in a Word file
- Build and format tables, including merged cells
- Read, accept or reject tracked changes and reviewer comments
- Add citations, bibliographies, footnotes and endnotes
- Fill a template or join chapter files into one document
- Check a document for accessibility and structure problems
- Compare two versions of a document and export to PDF
Try asking your AI
- “Open my report.docx and fix the heading styles so they are consistent”
- “Add a table with three columns and fill in the numbers I paste next”
- “Turn on tracked changes as Jane and rewrite the summary paragraph”
- “Check this document for accessibility problems and list what to fix”
What it gives back to you
You get plain answers in the chat: what was changed, lists of problems found, or a short summary of the document. For tracked changes and comments, it tells you who wrote what so you can accept or reject. When it compares two files or exports a PDF, it points you to the new file on your computer. Nothing is hidden; you can open the document and see the edits yourself.
