ARIA Clinical Research MCP server
by pkotecha-eng
Lets your AI search medical papers on PubMed and find clinical trials on ClinicalTrials.gov and ISRCTN.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to three big medical research websites. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to look up published papers or find clinical trials, and it goes and fetches the real information for you. It is handy for anyone in clinical research, life sciences, or trial coordination who needs quick answers without clicking through three different websites.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, like a connection to a specific website or service. This one connects your AI to PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, and the ISRCTN registry, so it can search those places for you. When you ask a question, the AI passes it to this helper, the helper asks the medical databases, and the AI tells you what came back.
What this MCP server does
You type a question in plain English, like asking about a drug or a condition. Your AI sends that question to this helper program running on your computer. The helper then searches PubMed for published papers, or ClinicalTrials.gov and ISRCTN for clinical trials, depending on what you asked. It brings the results back to your AI, which turns them into a readable answer in your chat window. You never have to visit those websites yourself or copy anything over.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search over 35 million peer-reviewed papers on PubMed
- Find recruiting clinical trials on ClinicalTrials.gov
- Look up UK and European trials through the ISRCTN registry
- Get a combined brief of evidence and active trials for a condition
- Check a drug's safety profile and reported adverse events
- Assess whether a patient might qualify for recruiting trials
- Look up trial phase definitions and FDA designations
Try asking your AI
- “Search PubMed for ketogenic diet pediatric epilepsy outcomes”
- “Find recruiting trials for lung cancer immunotherapy”
- “What does the literature say about veliparib in ovarian cancer, and are there active trials?”
- “Find UK and European trials for pediatric epilepsy via ISRCTN”
What it gives back to you
You get back a written answer in your chat, usually a list of papers or trials with titles, dates, and short descriptions. For paper searches, you see the study names and where they were published. For trial searches, you see the trial name, its status, and where it is recruiting. Some prompts also give you a structured brief or safety summary instead of a plain list.
