Mail MCP server
Lets your AI read, search, send, reply to and forward email across several accounts for you.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to your email. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to find a message, send a reply, or forward something with an attachment, and it does the work in your mailbox. It is handy for anyone who spends a lot of the day in email and wants to skip the clicking around.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. It cannot see your inbox or send anything. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, and this one gives it a connection to your email accounts. So when you ask your AI to check your mail or send a note, it passes the request to this helper, which talks to your email service and brings the result back to your chat.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about your email, like finding a message from a client or sending a short reply. Your AI hands that request to this helper program. The helper logs in to your email account using the settings you gave it and does the actual work: searching, reading, sending, replying, forwarding, or downloading an attachment. Then it hands the result back to your AI, which shows it to you in plain words in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search your mailbox for messages from a person or about a topic
- Read a specific email and summarize it for you
- Send a new email to one or more people
- Reply to or forward a message, with or without an attachment
- Download an attachment from an email to a folder on your computer
- Work with several email accounts at once, like work and personal
- Move, copy, or delete messages in bulk
Try asking your AI
- “Find the last email from Anna about the invoice and tell me what she asked”
- “Reply to that message saying I will send the file tomorrow morning”
- “Forward the contract email to my colleague with a short note”
- “Download the PDF attached to the message from the bank”
What it gives back to you
You get back plain answers in the chat: a list of matching emails with sender, subject and date, a short summary of a message, or a confirmation that your email was sent. When you download an attachment, it tells you the file name and where it was saved on your computer. If something went wrong, like a wrong password, it tells you that too.
Before you start
What you need
- Your email account details, like the server address and password or an app password
- For Microsoft accounts, an app registration with Microsoft (the setup guide walks you through it)
- The mail-mcp program itself, either run on your computer or hosted for you
Good to know
It can send, move and delete real email in your accounts, so check what your AI is about to do before you say yes, and keep the attachment folder setting in place so it cannot read files you did not mean to share.
Install it with your AI
Add Mail MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Mail MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who handle a lot of email every day, like assistants, support staff, sales people and managers, and anyone who wants their AI to do the inbox chores.
