Google Slides MCP server

by A1-x-Tech

Lets your AI look at and edit your Google Slides decks, from adding slides to exporting them as PDF.

This is a helper for your AI app that connects it to Google Slides. You can ask in plain words for things like listing the slides in a deck, adding a new one, writing text, or exporting a file. It is handy for anyone who builds or tidies up presentations and would rather describe what they want than click through menus.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

By itself, your AI can only chat. It cannot see or touch your Google Slides. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect once, and it gives your AI a new skill: here, the ability to talk to Google Slides for you. After that, when you ask a question or give an instruction about a deck, your AI passes it to this helper, and the helper does the work.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about a presentation, like listing the slides or adding a new one. The AI uses this helper, which signs in to Google Slides with your own Google account. The helper sends the request to Google, gets the answer or makes the change, and hands the result back to your AI. Your AI then shows it to you in the chat, as a list, an answer, or a note that the edit is done. Edits go through in one go, so a deck is not left half-changed if something in the request is wrong.

What you can do with it

  • List the slides in a deck and what is on each one
  • Create a new presentation with a title slide
  • Add, duplicate, move or delete slides
  • Write and style text, and find and replace across a deck
  • Insert images from a web address or a file on your computer
  • Add tables, text boxes and shapes
  • Read and rewrite speaker notes, and reply to comments
  • Export a deck as a PDF or PPTX file

Try asking your AI

  • “Show me the slides in the quarterly report deck and what's on each of them”
  • “Create a presentation for the Q3 review with a title slide”
  • “Add a Roadmap slide after the agenda, with the key dates in the body”
  • “Replace Q2 with Q3 across the whole deck, and then export it as a PDF”

What it gives back to you

You get answers and lists right in the chat, like an inventory of every slide with its position and the text on it. When you ask for a change, it tells you what it is about to do and waits for your yes before touching the deck. Some requests end with a file, for example a PDF or PPTX saved for you, or a small preview image of a slide. It never shows a half-finished edit, because each change is applied all at once or not at all.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Google account that owns or can edit the presentations
  • Node.js 20 or newer on your computer
  • A free Google Cloud project with the Google Slides API turned on, and a Desktop app sign-in client (the helper walks you through this step by step in the chat)

Good to know

It can change or delete things in your Google Slides decks, and deletes cannot be undone through the API, so read the confirmation your AI shows before you say yes.

Install it with your AI

Add Google Slides MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Google Slides MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,210 MCP servers here for you.
