Chatmaid WhatsApp MCP server
by chatmaid · official
Let your AI send WhatsApp messages, read replies and check delivery for your business number.
This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Chatmaid, a service for sending WhatsApp messages from a business number. Once it is set up, you can just ask your AI in normal words to send a message, check what came back, or see how many messages you have used. It is handy if you run a small business or a support inbox on WhatsApp and want to skip the clicking around.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a little helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another app. This one connects your AI to Chatmaid, which is a WhatsApp messaging service. So when you ask your AI to send a WhatsApp message or check a reply, it can actually do that through Chatmaid instead of just talking about it.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something in plain words, like sending a WhatsApp message to a customer. Your AI passes that request to this helper, which talks to the Chatmaid service on your behalf. Chatmaid then sends the message from your linked business number. When you ask about replies or delivery, the helper fetches that information back and your AI shows it to you in the chat.
What you can do with it
- Send a WhatsApp message to a phone number or a group
- List the WhatsApp groups your connected number can post to
- Check whether a message was delivered
- Read the latest messages received on your business number
- See which phone numbers are linked to your Chatmaid account
- Check if a phone number is currently connected to WhatsApp
- See how much of your monthly message quota you have used
Try asking your AI
- “Send a WhatsApp message from my business number to +14155551234 saying the order has shipped.”
- “What phone numbers are connected to my Chatmaid account?”
- “Check if message msg_abc123 was delivered.”
- “Show me the latest messages received on my business number.”
- “How much of my WhatsApp quota have I used this month?”
What it gives back to you
You get back plain answers in the chat: a confirmation that a message was sent, a list of phone numbers or groups, the status of a specific message, or recent replies from customers. Numbers like usage counts come back as simple figures. It is all shown as text you can read, not as files or code.
Before you start
What you need
- A Chatmaid account with at least one WhatsApp number linked
- An API key from the Chatmaid developer dashboard (a kind of password for apps; the site gives you one for free)
- Node.js installed on your computer (the setup guide walks you through it)
- An AI app that supports MCP, like Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf
Good to know
With a live key it sends real WhatsApp messages to real people, so test with a sk_test_ key first and double-check the number and wording before you let it send.
