Email MCP server
by codefuturist
Let your AI read, search, send, and schedule emails across your inboxes for you.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to your email accounts. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to check your inbox, find a message, or send a reply, and it will do it for you. It is handy for anyone who spends a lot of time in email and wants a hand keeping up.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, in this case a connection to your email. You set it up once with your email details, and after that your AI can look through your mail and act on it when you ask. Think of it as giving your assistant a key to your mailbox, but only for the things you tell it to do.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about your email, like finding a message or sending a note. The AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper then talks to your email provider using the standard mail rules (IMAP for reading, SMTP for sending). It brings the answer back to your AI, which shows it to you in the chat. It can also watch for new mail and sort it while you are away.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Read and search your inbox across several email accounts
- Send, reply to, and forward emails
- Save drafts and reuse templates
- Add labels and move messages in bulk
- Schedule emails to go out later
- Watch for new mail and sort it automatically
- Pull calendar invites out of messages
Try asking your AI
- “Show me any unread emails from my boss this week”
- “Send a short reply to Sarah saying I will get back to her tomorrow”
- “Find the email with the invoice from last month and tell me the total”
- “Schedule a reminder email to my team for Monday at 9am”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in plain chat, like a list of matching emails with sender and subject, or a short summary of what is in your inbox. When it sends or changes something, it tells you what it did. For scheduled mail, it keeps a list you can check. Nothing is hidden; you see the results right in the conversation.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js version 22 or newer (or Docker if you prefer)
- Your email address and an app password from your email provider
- The IMAP and SMTP server names for your email (the setup wizard can often find these for you)
Good to know
This helper can send, move, and delete emails, so be clear about what you ask it to do and check before letting it delete or send in bulk.
Install it with your AI
Add Email MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Email MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who lives in their inbox, like assistants, managers, or small business owners, and wants their AI to help sort, find, and send email.
