3D Texel MCP server
by Gatyh · official
Let your AI search, download, and generate 3D textures, HDRIs, and materials from 3D Texel for you.
This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to 3D Texel, a website full of ready-made 3D textures, skies, and materials. Once it is connected, you can ask your AI in plain words to find a texture or make a new one, and it will handle the clicking for you. It is handy if you work with 3D scenes, games, or renders and want assets without hunting through a website by hand.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot open a website, download a file, or create an image. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, in this case a direct line to 3D Texel. So when you ask for a wood floor texture, your AI talks to this helper, the helper talks to 3D Texel, and you get the result back in the chat.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI for something, like a free brick texture or a sunset sky. The AI sends that request to this helper. The helper searches the 3D Texel library or asks 3D Texel to generate a new material or sky. Then it brings back the results, prices, or download links straight into your chat. If you have an account key connected, it can also download the file or spend your credits to make something new.
What you can do with it
- Search over 7,000 textures, HDRIs, decals, and 3D models
- Download free CC0 assets straight to your computer
- Generate new seamless PBR materials from a text prompt
- Generate 360 degree HDRI skies and skyboxes
- Check your 3D Texel credit balance
- See prices before you spend any credits
- List and manage your past generations
Try asking your AI
- “Find me a free CC0 wood floor texture in 4K”
- “Generate a seamless mossy stone PBR material with normal and roughness maps”
- “Make a sunset HDRI skybox in 4K”
- “How many credits do I have left on 3D Texel?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat: a list of matching assets with names, sizes, and prices, or details about one asset. For downloads, you get a link or file you can save. For generations, you get the finished images or maps, plus the cost in credits. It also tells you your balance and the status of any job you started.
Before you start
What you need
- A 3D Texel account (free to create)
- An API key from 3dtexel.com/api-keys (a kind of password for apps; the site gives you one)
- Credits on your account if you want to generate new assets
- Node.js 18 or newer if you use the local version
Good to know
Generating new assets spends your 3D Texel credits, so check the price first and keep an eye on your balance.
