IP2WHOIS MCP server
by ip2whois
Look up who owns a domain, when it expires, and which domains sit on an IP address.

This is a small helper that lets your AI look up WHOIS information for a domain name or an IP address. WHOIS is the public record of who registered a website name, when it was created, when it expires, and which company registered it. It is handy if you check websites for work, deal with suppliers, or just want to know who is behind a domain.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill. This helper connects your AI to the IP2WHOIS service, which keeps domain registration records. So when you ask about a domain, your AI can go and look it up instead of guessing.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about a domain name or an IP address. Your AI passes that question to this helper. The helper sends it to the IP2WHOIS service, which returns the registration record. Your AI then reads that record and explains it back to you in normal words. You never have to visit a website or copy anything yourself.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Find out who registered a domain name
- Check when a domain was created and when it expires
- See which company is the registrar for a domain
- Look up the nameservers a domain uses
- See the registrant's name, organization, and country when available
- Find out which domains are hosted on a given IP address
Try asking your AI
- “Who is the registrar of example.com?”
- “When does example.com expire?”
- “What is the WHOIS record for example.com?”
- “Which domains are hosted on 8.8.8.8?”
What it gives back to you
You get a short answer in the chat, written by your AI from the record it received. That can include the registrar name, the creation and expiry dates, the domain age, the nameservers, and contact details for the registrant when they are public. For an IP address, you get a list of domain names hosted there and how many were found. Your AI may also show the raw record if you ask for it.
