Fetcher MCP server
by jae-jae
Lets your AI open web pages, read the real content, and hand it back as clean text or HTML.

Fetcher MCP is a small helper that lets your AI actually open a web page and read it, even pages that need JavaScript to show their content. It is handy if you often ask your AI about a page and it says it cannot see it. Instead, it can go fetch the page for you and bring back the useful part.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to web pages, using a real browser running quietly in the background. So when you ask about a link, your AI can ask this helper to open it and read it for you.
What this MCP server does
You give your AI a web address and ask what is on the page. Your AI passes that address to Fetcher MCP. Fetcher MCP opens the page in a hidden browser, waits for it to load, and runs the JavaScript so the real content appears. Then it strips out ads, menus, and clutter, and hands the main text back to your AI. Your AI reads that and answers you in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Read a web page and summarize it for you
- Fetch several links at once and compare them
- Turn a page into clean Markdown text you can copy
- Get the raw HTML of a page when you need it
- Wait for slow or JavaScript-heavy pages to finish loading
- Log in manually in a visible browser and then fetch pages as you
- Install the browser it needs if it is missing
Try asking your AI
- “Open this page and give me a short summary: https://example.com/article”
- “Fetch these three links and tell me which one mentions the new policy”
- “Please wait for the page to fully load, then show me the main content”
- “Return the content in HTML format instead of Markdown”
What it gives back to you
You get back the page content in the chat, usually as clean Markdown text with the ads and menus removed. If you ask for several pages, you get them together, clearly separated. If you ask for HTML, you get the raw page code instead. Your AI then uses that to answer your question or summarize it.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js installed on your computer
- The Chromium browser that Playwright uses (the server can install it for you)
- The Claude desktop app or another app that supports MCP servers
Good to know
It opens real web pages, so be careful about pages that need your login, and only fetch sites you are allowed to read.
Install it with your AI
Add Fetcher MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
