Keboola MCP server

by keboola

Lets your AI look at and work with your Keboola data, tables, and jobs for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “List the tables in my Keboola project”, the Keboola MCP server connects it to Keboola, and you get back answers in your chat.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Keboola, a platform where companies keep and process their data. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to look at your tables, run jobs, or build SQL transformations. It is handy for anyone who works with Keboola data but does not want to click through menus all day.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another service. This one connects your AI to Keboola, so it can look things up and do things in your Keboola project when you ask. You stay in the chat, and the helper does the running around.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your Keboola project, like which tables exist or what is in one of them. The AI passes your request to this helper. The helper talks to Keboola for you, using your account. Then it brings the answer back into the chat, so you see it right where you are working.

What you can do with it

  • List your tables and buckets in Keboola
  • Query data from a table and see the results
  • Create SQL transformations from a plain description
  • Run components, transformations, and jobs
  • Check how a job ran and what it returned
  • Update descriptions on tables and buckets
  • Search and update project documentation and metadata

Try asking your AI

  • “List the tables in my Keboola project”
  • “Show me the first 20 rows of the customers table”
  • “Create a SQL transformation that joins orders and customers”
  • “Run the daily sales job and tell me when it finishes”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat: lists of tables, rows of data, job statuses, and short summaries of what happened. If you asked it to create or change something, it tells you what it made or updated. You do not have to open Keboola yourself to see the result.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Keboola account with access to a project
  • Admin rights on that Keboola project
  • Python 3.10 or newer if you run it on your own machine
  • An AI assistant that supports MCP, like Claude, Cursor, or VS Code

Good to know

It can change or delete things in your Keboola project, so check before you let it run jobs or make changes, and use a development branch when you want to be safe.
