Founders OS MCP server
by OurThinkTank
Connect your AI to your own business data: customers, tasks, money, notes and feeds, all in one place.

Founders OS is a free, open-source helper that connects your AI assistant to your own business records. It keeps your customers, tasks, projects, finances, notes and news feeds in one place, and lets your AI read and update them when you ask. It is made for startup and small business founders who want their AI to actually know their business, not just chat about it.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It does not know your customers or your to-do list. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to your own Founders OS business database, so when you ask about a customer or a task, it can look it up and answer for real.
What this MCP server does
You type a normal request, like adding a new customer or asking what is overdue. Your AI sends that request to this helper program. The helper talks to your Founders OS database, which you set up yourself, and does the work: it saves the customer, or gathers the tasks, or adds up your numbers. Then it hands the result back to your AI, which explains it to you in the chat. You never touch the database directly.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Add and update customers, contacts and call notes
- Create tasks, assign them, and link them to a customer or project
- See what is stuck, overdue or waiting on someone
- Track income and expenses and get a profit and loss report
- Save notes your AI can remember later, for you or the whole team
- Follow news feeds and get a short briefing
- Run a saved checklist that spins up tasks for a new customer
Try asking your AI
- “Catch me up on what happened since yesterday”
- “Add Acme Corp as a new prospect and log a call with Sarah about pricing”
- “Create a task to send the proposal by Friday and link it to Acme”
- “Show me the profit and loss for this quarter”
- “What is stuck or overdue right now”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in plain chat: lists of customers or tasks, a short summary of your day, a profit and loss figure, or a note that something was saved or changed. When you ask for a customer, it can pull together their details, open tasks and recent calls in one go. When you add or update something, it confirms what it did. Everything stays in your own database, not on someone else's servers.
Before you start
What you need
- A Supabase account and project (a free database service; you run one setup file there)
- An embedding key, usually from OpenAI (a kind of password for apps; OpenAI gives you one)
- An AI app that supports MCP, such as Claude Desktop or Cursor
- Node.js installed on your computer so the npx command can run
Good to know
This helper can change and delete your business records, including financial entries, so it is worth checking what the AI is about to do before you say yes, and keeping backups of your Supabase data.
Install it with your AI
Add Founders OS MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Founders OS MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Startup and small business founders, and small teams who want one AI assistant that knows their customers, tasks and numbers.
