Qiniso fact-check MCP server
by qinisolabs
Your AI can check IBANs, VAT numbers, VINs, barcodes, phone numbers and more against real rules instead of guessing.

Qiniso is a free helper that lets your AI check structured facts like bank account numbers, tax IDs, barcodes and phone numbers against real checksum rules and trusted reference lists. It is handy if you paste numbers into ChatGPT or Claude and want to know whether they are actually valid, not just plausible-looking. The name means "truth" in Zulu.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat: it reads your words and writes back words, but it cannot run a real check on a number. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect once, and it gives your AI a new skill. This one gives your AI the skill of verifying identifiers and codes against published checksum standards and curated data. After you connect it, you can ask your AI to check a value and it will actually run the check instead of guessing.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "is this IBAN valid?" and paste the number. Your AI sends that value to the Qiniso helper, which runs the right check for that kind of value. The helper compares it against a published checksum rule or a trusted reference list, then sends the answer back. Your AI then tells you in plain words whether the value is valid, and often adds a small detail like the country or card brand.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Check whether an IBAN is valid and which country it belongs to
- Verify a VAT number for the EU or the UK
- Test a payment card number with the Luhn check and detect the brand
- Validate barcodes like GTIN, UPC and EAN, plus the GS1 country
- Check a VIN, ISBN, ISSN or ORCID
- Verify Ethereum or Bitcoin wallet addresses
- Check national and tax IDs from many countries, and parse phone numbers, dates and holidays
Try asking your AI
- “Is this IBAN valid: GB82 WEST 1234 5698 7654 32”
- “Check this VAT number for me: DE123456789”
- “Is this a real Bitcoin address: 1BvBMSEYstWetqTFn5Au4m4GFg7xJaNVN2”
- “What country is this barcode from: 4006381333931”
What it gives back to you
You get a short answer in the chat, usually a yes or no plus a few details. For example, an IBAN check comes back with valid true or false and the country name. A card check returns whether the number passes the Luhn rule and which brand it looks like. Some checks also return extra context, like the GS1 country for a barcode or the region for a phone number.
Before you start
What you need
- The Claude desktop app or another AI app that supports MCP connectors
- Nothing else for the hosted version: no login, no key, no account
Good to know
It only checks whether a value is well-formed and passes its rules, so a valid-looking VAT number or domain may still not be registered or active in real life.
