Rillsoft Project MCP server
by rillsoft · official
Lets your AI read your open Rillsoft Project plan: schedule, people, capacity and conflicts.
This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Rillsoft Project 10, the planning software for projects, people and machines. It lets the AI look inside the project you have open on your Windows computer and answer questions about it. It is handy if you plan resources or schedules and want quick answers without clicking through every screen.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Rillsoft Project running on your own computer, so the AI can look things up there when you ask. Nothing goes to the cloud: the helper only listens on your machine.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question about your plan, in normal words. The AI sends that question to this helper, which is built into the Rillsoft Project program you already have open. The helper reads your project data, like dates, people, teams, machines and workload. Then the AI turns what it found into an answer for you in the chat. If you allow changes, the AI can also make edits, and each one is a single undo step you can take back with Ctrl+Z.
What you can do with it
- Summarize the current project status, dates and progress
- List roles, people, teams, machines and material in the plan
- Show capacity and workload across several projects
- Point out open conflicts and overloads
- Compare the plan with the actual progress
- Search for suitable people for a task
- Undo or redo a change you or the AI made
Try asking your AI
- “Summarize the current project status: dates, progress and open conflicts, in five paragraphs.”
- “Which people are overloaded next month and by how much?”
- “Compare the baseline with the actual progress and tell me where we are behind.”
- “Who in the team could take over the assembly task starting in two weeks?”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, usually as short summaries, lists or numbers. For example, a list of overloaded people with their hours, or a few paragraphs about where the project stands. If the AI makes a change, it tells you what it changed, and you can undo it like any normal edit.
Before you start
What you need
- Rillsoft Project 10 installed and running on Windows
- The MCP server switched on in Settings, with read-only mode on to start
- An AI client that can connect to a local MCP server, such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, VS Code or Cursor
- Node.js 18 or later only if you use the npx launcher or the Claude plugin
Good to know
If you turn off read-only mode, the AI can change your plan, though every change is one undo step you can take back with Ctrl+Z.
Install it with your AI
Add Rillsoft Project MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Rillsoft Project MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Project planners, resource managers and schedulers in mid-sized industrial companies who already use Rillsoft Project and want faster answers about their plans.
