RNV Color MCP server

by RNVizion

Mix, convert, and match colors, build palettes, and save them by name, right from your chat.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Mix crimson and royalblue like real paint”, the RNV Color MCP server connects it to Color helper, and you get back colors and answers in your chat.

This is a helper for anything color related. You can ask your AI to mix two paint colors, convert a hex code, check if text is readable on a background, or save a set of colors under a name you choose. It is handy if you work with design, branding, or just want to stop guessing what colors go together.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot look up an exact color value or do reliable color math. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill. This one connects your AI to a color engine, so when you ask for a color mix or a palette, the AI hands the request to this helper and the helper does the precise work.

What this MCP server does

You type a request in plain words, like mixing two colors or saving a palette. Your AI reads it and calls this helper with the right details. The helper does the exact color math, converts between formats, or looks up a color name. Then it sends the answer back, and your AI shows it to you in the chat. If a color name does not exist or a value is out of range, it tells you instead of guessing.

What you can do with it

  • Mix up to 12 colors together using different methods, including realistic paint mixing
  • Convert colors between hex, rgb, hsv, hsl, and lab formats
  • Generate color harmonies like complementary, analogous, or triadic sets
  • Check if text and background colors pass accessibility contrast rules
  • Measure how different two colors look to the human eye
  • Save a palette under a name and pull it up again later
  • Look up colors by CSS name or by brand names like brand gold

Try asking your AI

  • “Mix crimson and royalblue like real paint”
  • “Save a palette called Spring line with near-black and brand gold”
  • “Give me three complementary accents for my Spring line palette”
  • “Is white text readable on this dark blue background”

What it gives back to you

You get answers right in the chat. Sometimes it is a single color value like a hex code. Sometimes it is a small list of colors, like a harmony set or the swatches in a saved palette. For contrast checks you get a ratio and a pass or fail. When you save a palette, it confirms the name and tells you whether the save will last.

Before you start

What you need

  • An AI app that supports MCP connectors, like Claude
  • Nothing else. This server is hosted, so there is nothing to install.

Good to know

Saving a palette only lasts if the server is set up with durable storage, so check the confirmation message if you plan to rely on it later.
