YourMemory MCP server
by sachitrafa
Give your AI a lasting memory of facts, preferences and past sessions that it can recall later.

YourMemory is a memory helper for your AI. Normally your AI forgets everything between chats, so you repeat yourself. This gives it a place to store what matters and bring it back when it is useful.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with what is in front of it right now. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another tool. This one connects your AI to a personal memory store that runs on your own computer. When you tell your AI something worth keeping, it can save it here and look it up again in a later chat.
What this MCP server does
You tell your AI something worth remembering, like a preference or a decision. The AI passes that to YourMemory, which tidies it up and stores it on your machine. Later, when you ask a question, the AI searches that store and pulls back the most relevant notes. Over time, related notes get combined into short summaries, and notes you never use fade away. Everything stays local, so nothing is sent to an outside service.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Remember your preferences and working style across chats
- Recall decisions and facts from earlier sessions
- Link related notes by shared people, places and topics
- Combine piles of similar notes into one short summary
- Let old, unused notes fade so the store stays clean
- Keep a record of every change made to your memory
- Share a memory pool with your team while keeping private notes private
Try asking your AI
- “Remember that I prefer short answers and British spelling”
- “What did we decide about the database for the reporting project”
- “Remind me which tools I said I use for deployment”
- “Forget everything I told you about the old client project”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in plain chat, drawn from your saved notes. It can also show lists of memories, short summaries of related facts, and simple counts like how many notes are strong or fading. When it changes something, like saving or removing a note, it tells you what it did.
Before you start
What you need
- Python 3.11 to 3.14, or a ready-made app file from the project page
- A free token from yourmemoryai.xyz (you sign up with your email and get a code)
- An MCP client such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf or Cline
Good to know
It stores personal facts about you on your computer, so treat that folder like a diary and use the forget command when you no longer want something kept.
Install it with your AI
Add YourMemory MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check YourMemory MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who uses an AI assistant every day and is tired of repeating the same background, preferences and past decisions.
