Google Contacts MCP server
by A1-x-Tech
Let your AI look up, add, update and organize the people in your Google Contacts for you.
This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your Google Contacts, the address book inside your Google account. Once it is set up, you can just ask in plain words to find someone, add a new person, or tidy up your labels. It is handy if you keep your contacts in Google and want to stop clicking around the Contacts website by hand.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot see your email list of people or your phone's address book. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, and here that skill is a live connection to your Google Contacts. So when you ask your AI about a person or ask it to add someone, it can actually look things up or make the change in your Google account for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "find everyone from Acme" or "add Jane Doe with her phone number". Your AI then passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to Google Contacts on your behalf and gets the answer or makes the change. Then it hands the result back, and your AI shows it to you in the chat. For anything that changes your contacts, it can ask you to confirm first.
What you can do with it
- Search your contacts and show names, emails, phone numbers and companies
- Add a new contact with details like email, phone and job title
- Update a contact's phone number, title or other fields
- Create labels like Clients and add contacts to them
- Rename a label or move a contact between labels
- Delete a contact, a label, or a batch of them when you ask
- Copy auto-saved Other contacts into your real contacts
Try asking your AI
- “Find everyone from Acme in my contacts and show their emails and phone numbers”
- “Add a contact for Jane Doe with her email jane@example.com and phone number”
- “Create a Clients label and add these three people to it”
- “Show the addresses Google saved automatically that are not in my contacts yet”
What it gives back to you
You get back answers in the chat, like a list of matching people with their details, or a short summary of what was found. When it changes something, it tells you what it updated or added and whether the change went through. If a change could not be saved (for example, because the contact was edited somewhere else at the same time), it says so instead of quietly overwriting it.
Before you start
What you need
- A Google account with the contacts you want to manage
- Node.js version 20 or newer on your computer
- A Google Cloud project with the People API turned on (the assistant walks you through this)
Good to know
Deleting a contact or a label is permanent with no trash and no undo, and the raw request tool can make broad changes, so read the AI's confirmation prompts carefully before saying yes.
Install it with your AI
Add Google Contacts MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Google Contacts MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone whose address book lives in Google and who wants to search, update or organize contacts by just asking their AI.
