This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your own Telegram account. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to look through your chats, tell you what you missed, and even draft replies. It is handy if you get a lot of Telegram messages and want help sorting through them.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Telegram, so it can look at your dialogs and messages when you ask. You stay in control: the AI only does what you tell it to do.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your Telegram, like what is unread. The AI passes that request to this helper program running on your computer. The helper talks to Telegram using your account and pulls back the chats or messages you asked about. Then the AI reads that information and gives you a summary or a draft in the chat window. You never have to copy and paste messages yourself.

What you can do with it

  • Check your Telegram account details
  • List your chats, groups, and channels, with an option to show only unread ones
  • Read the messages inside a specific chat
  • Mark a chat as read
  • Draft a reply to a chat without sending it
  • Summarize your unread messages
  • Find unanswered questions across your chats

Try asking your AI

  • “Check for any unread important messages in my Telegram”
  • “Summarize all my unread Telegram messages”
  • “Read the last messages in my chat with the design team and draft a polite reply”
  • “Look through my dialogs and suggest which ones I should organize into folders”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain chat: summaries of unread messages, lists of your dialogs, or the text of messages from a chat you asked about. It can also prepare a draft reply for you to review. When it marks something as read, it tells you that it did so. Everything shows up right in your conversation with the AI.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Telegram account
  • An API ID and API hash from Telegram (you get these free at my.telegram.org)
  • Your phone number, to confirm the login code Telegram sends you
  • An AI app that supports MCP, like Claude Desktop or Cursor

Good to know

This connects to your real Telegram account, so be careful: it can mark chats as read and prepare messages, and misuse of the Telegram API can get your account suspended.

Install it with your AI

Add Telegram MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
