Dexio MCP server
by dexio-wiki
Give your AI one shared wiki it can read, search and write, with every change tracked.
Dexio is a wiki that your AI assistants can read and write. Instead of each assistant keeping its own private notes, they all share the same pages. It is handy if you use more than one AI tool and want them to work from the same information.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Dexio, a wiki where pages are stored as simple text files. Once connected, your AI can look things up in the wiki or add and change pages when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something, like to save a note or find what was decided last week. Your AI uses this helper to talk to your Dexio wiki. The helper searches, reads or writes the pages there. Then your AI tells you what it found or confirms what it changed. Every change is saved with a record of which AI made it and when.
What you can do with it
- Search your wiki for pages that match your words
- Read a page and summarise it for you
- Write a new page with what you just discussed
- Edit or add to an existing page
- Move or rename a page
- See the history of a page and who changed what
- Upload a file like an image or PDF next to your pages
Try asking your AI
- “Search the wiki for anything about the Johnson project”
- “Save a new page called Meeting notes 12 March with what we just talked about”
- “Add a line to the Onboarding page saying the new start date is 1 April”
- “Show me the history of the Pricing page”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, like a list of matching pages or a summary of what a page says. When your AI writes or edits a page, it tells you what it changed. You can also open the Dexio web app to see the pages, how they link together, and every past version.
Before you start
What you need
- A Dexio account, either the hosted one at app.dexio.wiki or your own self-hosted copy
- An API key from the Connect page in Dexio, or sign in with OAuth if your AI tool supports it
- An AI tool that can connect to a remote MCP server, like Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex or Cursor
Good to know
Your AI can change or delete pages, so check what it did before you rely on it, and remember that anything you publish or share by link can be seen by others.
Install it with your AI
Add Dexio MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Dexio MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who use more than one AI assistant and want them to share the same notes, especially small teams and anyone who keeps a lot of written information.
