Calculator MCP server
by githejie
Lets your AI do exact math instead of guessing at numbers.

This is a small helper that gives your AI a calculator. When you ask for a sum, a percentage, or a longer calculation, the AI hands the numbers to this tool and gets back the exact answer. It is handy for anyone who works with budgets, invoices, or reports and wants numbers they can trust.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. It reads and writes text, but it does not really calculate, it predicts what an answer probably looks like. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect once, and it gives your AI one new skill. This one gives it a calculator, so when you ask a maths question the AI passes the numbers to the calculator and reads back the real result.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something that involves numbers, like a total or a percentage. The AI turns that into a calculation and sends it to this helper. The helper works out the answer exactly, the way a pocket calculator would. Then the AI tells you the result in the chat, usually with a short explanation of what it did. You do not have to do anything extra, it happens inside the conversation.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Add up a list of numbers and get the exact total
- Work out percentages, discounts, or tax amounts
- Check a calculation you already did by hand
- Handle longer expressions with brackets and several steps
- Convert a word problem into a sum and get the answer
- Compare two totals to see which one is bigger
What it gives back to you
You get the number back, written plainly in the chat. Often the AI adds a short line saying what it calculated, so you can follow along. It does not create files or change anything anywhere, it just answers. If the expression does not make sense, you get a message saying so instead of a wrong number.
Before you start
What you need
- The Claude desktop app or another app that supports MCP servers
- Python installed on your computer, or the uv tool (the README shows a one-line install command)
Good to know
It only does maths and does not touch your files or accounts, so there is nothing risky here, but always glance at the number it gives you before you use it in a real document.
Install it with your AI
Add Calculator MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Calculator MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who works with numbers in their day to day, like people doing budgets, quotes, invoices, or expense reports.
