Kagi Search MCP server
by kagisearch
Lets your AI search the web and pull full pages through Kagi, right inside your chat.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Kagi Search. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to look things up on the web or grab the full text of a page, and it will do that for you. It is handy for anyone who wants fresher answers than the AI's built-in knowledge, without leaving the chat.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Kagi Search, so it can look things up on the web and fetch pages for you. You just ask in normal words, and the helper does the looking.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a question or give it a task, like finding recent news or reading a web page. Your AI passes that request to this helper, which talks to the Kagi Search service. Kagi returns search results, or the full text of a page as markdown, and the helper hands it back to your AI. Your AI then turns that into a normal answer in your chat. You never have to open a browser or copy links around.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search the web for current information
- Search news, videos, podcasts, and images
- Fetch the full content of a web page as markdown
- Narrow results with filters like date or domain
- Use Kagi lenses to focus a search on a topic
- Ask follow-up questions based on what was found
Try asking your AI
- “Who was Time's 2024 person of the year?”
- “Find recent news about electric car sales in Europe”
- “Extract the full content of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_Context_Protocol”
- “Search for videos about beginner gardening tips”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in your normal chat, written by your AI using what Kagi found. That can be a short summary, a list of results with titles and links, or the full text of a page you asked it to read. If you asked for a specific page's content, you will see the page text in markdown form. Nothing is saved anywhere by this helper; it just passes information back to your AI.
Before you start
What you need
- A Kagi account with an API key (a kind of password for apps; you get one from your Kagi dashboard)
- An MCP-capable AI app, like Claude Desktop or Claude Code
- If you install it yourself: the uv tool (a small installer for Python programs)
Good to know
Searching and extracting uses your Kagi account, so keep an eye on your usage if your plan has limits.
Install it with your AI
Add Kagi Search MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Kagi Search MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who uses an AI assistant for research, writing, or fact-checking and wants it to look things up on the live web.
