Give your AI a long-term memory that remembers what matters and quietly forgets what does not.

Shodh-Memory is a memory helper for your AI. Normally your AI forgets everything as soon as a chat ends. With this connected, it can store things you tell it and bring them back later, even in a brand new chat, all on your own computer.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It has no place to keep notes between conversations. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, and here that skill is memory. This helper runs quietly on your machine, so your AI can save and look up things for you when you ask.

What this MCP server does

You tell your AI something worth keeping, like a preference or a decision. Your AI passes that to this helper. The helper saves it on your computer and links it to related things you already told it. Later, when you ask about that topic, the helper finds the most relevant notes and hands them back to your AI. Your AI then answers you using those notes.

What you can do with it

  • Remember facts, decisions and preferences across chats
  • Recall what you discussed about a topic earlier
  • Search your saved memories by keyword or tag
  • Keep simple to-do lists and projects
  • Set reminders and check them later
  • Summarize a past session or a whole topic
  • Back up and restore your memory data

Try asking your AI

  • “Remember that I prefer short email replies.”
  • “What do you know about my project deadlines?”
  • “Show me my open to-dos for this week.”
  • “Remind me to follow up with the design team on Friday.”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain chat, built from your saved notes. It can also return lists, like your to-dos, projects or reminders, and short summaries of a topic or session. When it saves something, it just confirms it in a line or two.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js installed on your computer (the free runtime that runs the helper)
  • The Claude desktop app or another AI app that supports MCP servers
  • About 50 MB of free disk space for the small AI models it downloads on first run

Good to know

Your memories are stored as plain files on your computer, so anyone with access to that computer can read them.

Install it with your AI

Add Shodh-Memory MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
