WhatsApp MCP server (WSAPI)

by wsapi-chat

Let your AI send WhatsApp messages, share media, and manage chats, groups and contacts for you.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to WhatsApp through a service called WSAPI. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to send a message, share a photo, or look up a contact, and it will do it on your connected WhatsApp number. It is handy for people who handle a lot of WhatsApp chats for work and want to save time.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a little helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to WhatsApp through WSAPI, so the AI can look things up and do things there when you ask. You stay in charge: nothing happens until you tell it to.

What this MCP server does

You type a request in plain words, like asking your AI to message someone or check your chats. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to WSAPI, which is the bridge to your WhatsApp number. WSAPI carries out the action, like sending a text or a photo, and sends the result back. Your AI then shows you what happened in the chat window.

What you can do with it

  • Send text messages to a WhatsApp contact or group
  • Share images, documents and other media
  • Look up your contacts and their details
  • List your chats and read recent messages
  • Create and manage groups and communities
  • Post a status update
  • Manage newsletter subscriptions

Try asking your AI

  • “Send a WhatsApp message to Anna saying I will be ten minutes late”
  • “Show me my last five WhatsApp chats”
  • “Send this photo to the team group with the caption 'New design draft'”
  • “Find the phone number for the contact saved as Marco”

What it gives back to you

You get back short answers in the chat, like a confirmation that a message was sent, or a list of your chats and contacts. If you ask for information, the AI shows it as a simple list or summary. If you ask it to send something, it tells you whether it worked. Everything appears right in your conversation with the AI.

Before you start

What you need

  • A WSAPI account with an API key and an instance ID (WSAPI gives you these when you sign up)
  • Node.js version 20.19.0 or newer installed on your computer
  • The Claude desktop app or Claude Code, set up to use MCP servers

Good to know

This helper can send messages and change things on your real WhatsApp account, so check with your AI before letting it act on your behalf.

Install it with your AI

Add WhatsApp MCP server (WSAPI) to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check WhatsApp MCP server (WSAPI), install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
