Let your AI search, read, and write in your Notion pages and databases for you.

This is a small helper program that connects your AI assistant to your Notion workspace. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI in plain words to find a page, read it, or add new content, and it will do it in Notion for you. It is handy if you keep notes, tasks, or project info in Notion and want your AI to work with them directly.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It cannot see your Notion pages or change anything there. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill, and here that skill is talking to Notion. So when you ask your AI to look something up or add a note in Notion, it goes through this helper to do it.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your Notion workspace, like finding a page or adding a note. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper then talks to Notion using your Notion connection details. Notion sends back the result, and the helper passes it to your AI, which shows it to you in the chat. If you asked it to change something, the helper makes that change in Notion and tells you it is done.

What you can do with it

  • Search your Notion pages and databases by keyword
  • Read a page and show you its content
  • Create a new page with a title and text
  • Add paragraphs, headings, bullet points, and to-do items to a page
  • Add a bookmark link to an outside website on a page
  • Add a link from one Notion page to another page
  • Add many content blocks to a page in one go
  • Show simple analytics about your workspace, like page and database counts

Try asking your AI

  • “Search my Notion for the page about the Q3 planning meeting”
  • “Read my Project Ideas page and summarize it for me”
  • “Create a new Notion page called Weekly Notes with a short intro paragraph”
  • “Add a to-do item to my Tasks page that says review the budget”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in the chat, like a list of matching pages, the text of a page, or a short summary. When it creates or changes something, it tells you what it did, such as the name of the new page. For analytics, it gives you simple numbers like how many pages and databases you have. Everything shows up as normal chat text you can read and copy.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Notion account
  • A Notion integration token (a kind of password for apps; you create it on the Notion integrations page and it starts with ntn_)
  • Python 3.8 or newer installed on the computer that runs the server
  • Sharing the Notion pages or databases you want to use with your integration

Good to know

This helper can create and change things in your Notion workspace, so it is a good idea to check what it did, especially before letting it edit important pages.

Install it with your AI

Add Notion MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
