Fresh Jots MCP server
by Goran-Arsov
Let your AI read, search and add to your Fresh Jots notes for you.
This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to Fresh Jots, a note-taking service that stores notes as plain text. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to look up a note, write a new one, or keep adding lines to the same note over time. It is handy if you keep notes, logs or journals in Fresh Jots and want your AI to work with them directly.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you; it cannot see or touch anything outside the conversation. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one extra skill or connection. This one connects your AI to your Fresh Jots account, so it can read your notebooks and make changes there when you ask. You install the helper once, and after that your AI just uses it quietly in the background.
What this MCP server does
You type a request in plain words, like asking your AI to read a note or add a line to it. Your AI passes that request to this helper program running on your computer. The helper then talks to the Fresh Jots website using your personal API token, which is a kind of password for apps. Fresh Jots sends back the note contents or confirms the change, and the helper hands that result to your AI. Your AI then shows it to you in the chat, as text you can read.
What you can do with it
- List all your Fresh Jots notes and folders
- Read the full text of any note
- Create a new plain-text note
- Append new lines to a note without overwriting what is already there
- Update or rewrite a note's contents
- Move a note or create, rename and delete folders
- Delete a note you no longer need
Try asking your AI
- “Read my note called ai-sessions.txt and summarize it”
- “Append today's log line to work-journal.txt”
- “Create a new note called meeting-notes.txt with the points below”
- “List all my notes and folders in Fresh Jots”
What it gives back to you
You get back the text of your notes, lists of note and folder names, or a short confirmation that something was created, changed or deleted. For a read request, your AI usually shows the note contents and may summarize them if you asked. For a write request, it tells you what it did, like which note it appended to. Everything appears as normal chat text.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer installed on your computer
- A Fresh Jots account on the Dev or Team plan
- A Fresh Jots API token (you create one in your Fresh Jots settings; it looks like mn_ and works like a password for apps)
Good to know
This helper can change and delete your notes and folders, so it is worth reviewing what your AI is about to do before you approve it. If you turn on encryption, keep the passphrase safe: without it the note cannot be read again.
Install it with your AI
Add Fresh Jots MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Fresh Jots MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who keep notes, journals or logs in Fresh Jots and want their AI assistant to read and update them without switching apps.
