Rememb MCP server

by LuizEduPP

Your AI can remember project facts and decisions between chats, stored in a file on your own computer.

Rememb is a memory helper for your AI. It saves the important things you tell your AI, like your tech setup or your preferences, into a file on your own computer. Next time you start a chat, your AI can read those notes back instead of asking you to explain everything again.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. It forgets everything the moment you close the window. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill. This one, Rememb, gives your AI a memory that lives in a folder on your machine, so it can save notes and look them up later when you ask.

What this MCP server does

You tell your AI something worth keeping, like which database your project uses or how you like your answers. Your AI sends that note to Rememb, which saves it in a file on your computer under a section like project or user. In a later chat, your AI asks Rememb to read the notes back, and you get your context restored without retyping it. If you need something specific, your AI can search the stored notes by keyword. Rememb also keeps old versions, so a change never wipes out what was there before.

What you can do with it

  • Save project facts like your tech stack and folder layout
  • Remember your personal preferences and working style
  • Recall past decisions at the start of a new chat
  • Search your saved notes by keyword when you need one detail
  • Keep a history of changes so you can see what was edited
  • Restore an earlier version of a note if something got changed by mistake
  • Organize notes into sections like project, user, or context

Try asking your AI

  • “Remember that we use PostgreSQL and our auth code lives in src/auth”
  • “What do you know about my project setup?”
  • “Save that I prefer short answers with no extra explanation”
  • “Search your memory for anything about our database”

What it gives back to you

You get short answers in the chat, like a confirmation that a note was saved, or a list of the notes your AI found. When it reads memory back, it usually summarizes what it remembered in a sentence or two. Search results come back as matching notes with their section and tags. You can also open the local web page to browse everything yourself.

Before you start

What you need

  • Python 3.10, 3.11, or 3.12 installed on your computer
  • An MCP-capable app like an IDE or a desktop AI client
  • No account, no API key, and no internet connection required

Good to know

Your AI can change or remove saved notes, so it is worth glancing at the local web page now and then to check what is stored.

Install it with your AI

Add Rememb MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
