Telegram MCP server
by overpod
Lets your AI read, search, and send Telegram messages from your own account.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to your Telegram account. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to read chats, search messages, and send replies for you. It is handy if you spend a lot of time in Telegram and want your AI to handle the boring parts.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Telegram, using your own account, so it can look things up and do things there when you ask. You stay in control: nothing happens until you tell your AI to do it.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like "what did I miss in my work group today?". The AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to Telegram using your logged-in session, the same way the Telegram app does. It brings back the messages, names, and details, and the AI turns them into a plain answer for you. If you ask it to send something, the helper sends it from your account.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Read your recent messages in any chat or group
- Search for a word or phrase across all your chats at once
- Send a message, reply, or scheduled message to someone
- Check what is unread and mark chats as read
- Download photos, videos, and other media from a chat
- Look up contacts and chat details
- Log in by scanning a QR code, no password typing needed
Try asking your AI
- “What are my unread messages right now?”
- “Search all my Telegram chats for the word invoice from last month”
- “Send a message to the design team saying the meeting moved to 3pm”
- “Summarize what was discussed in my project group chat today”
What it gives back to you
You get back plain answers in the chat: lists of chats, message text with sender names, search results, or a short summary. When it sends something, it tells you it was sent. Media like photos can be saved as files you can open. Everything shows up as normal text in your conversation with the AI.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer on your computer
- Telegram API credentials (an ID and a hash) from my.telegram.org, which you get for free
- Your Telegram app on your phone to scan the QR code during login
- Your Telegram two-step password, if you have one turned on
Good to know
It acts as your real Telegram account, so it can read your private chats and send messages as you, and anything it sends goes out for real.
Install it with your AI
Add Telegram MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Telegram MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who lives in Telegram all day, like support staff, community managers, or busy teams who want their AI to sort through messages for them.
