Nodiom MCP server
Lets your AI read and edit Markdown files by headings and sections, not by line numbers.
This is a small helper that lets your AI work with Markdown files on your own computer. It can find a section by its heading, read it, add a line to a list, or replace a paragraph. It is handy if you keep notes, a wiki, or task lists in Markdown and want your AI to update them without breaking the rest of the file.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something else. This one connects your AI to the Markdown files on your machine, so it can look inside a file and change parts of it when you ask. You set it up once, and then your AI can use it in the conversation.
What this MCP server does
You tell your AI what you want, for example to add a task to your project notes. Your AI uses this helper to look at the structure of the file, find the right heading or list, and make the change. The helper talks to the file on your computer and reports back. You get a short answer in the chat, and the file is updated the way you asked.
What you can do with it
- Read a section of a Markdown file by its heading
- Add a new item to the end of a list
- Replace the text under a heading
- Delete a section or a single list item
- Check whether a section exists and see its details
- List all the headings in a file so you can see its outline
Try asking your AI
- “Look at my project wiki at /Users/me/projects/aurora/wiki.md. What are the active tasks?”
- “Add a new task called Write integration tests to the Active section.”
- “Move the first completed task to a new Archive section.”
- “Replace the text under the Overview heading with: Project Aurora is on track for Q3 delivery.”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, like a list of tasks or a short confirmation that something was changed. When it reads a section, it shows you the text of that section. When it writes, appends, or deletes, it tells you what it did. The actual file on your computer is updated.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js installed on your computer (the free program that runs this helper)
- The Claude desktop app or another AI app that supports MCP servers
- A Markdown file on your computer that you want your AI to work with
Good to know
This helper can change or delete parts of your Markdown files, so it is a good idea to keep a backup or use a version control system.
Install it with your AI
Add Nodiom MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check Nodiom MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,361 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Anyone who keeps notes, a wiki, or task lists in Markdown and wants their AI to update those files for them.
