LocalKeep MCP server

by zuneracodes

Your AI can look up your own dated notes and memories stored on your computer when you ask.

LocalKeep is a small program that keeps a dated diary of notes on your own computer, and lets your AI read from it when you ask. You write the entries yourself in a simple local page, and your AI looks things up by date or topic. It is handy if you keep a work log, a journal, or research notes and want your AI to remember the real details instead of guessing.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with what is in the current conversation. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something, here to your own local notes. Once it is connected, your AI can ask LocalKeep for the entries that match your question, and LocalKeep answers from the notes you wrote. So your AI gets real facts from your own records, not made-up ones.

What this MCP server does

You write dated entries in a local page called the Hub, which runs on your own machine. When you ask your AI something that needs your past context, your AI calls LocalKeep through the MCP connection. LocalKeep searches your saved entries and hands back the matching pieces. Your AI then uses those pieces to answer you in the chat. Nothing is scraped from your chats, and the notes stay on your computer.

What you can do with it

  • Write and edit dated memory entries in a local page on your computer
  • Organize entries into separate memory banks with titles
  • Ask your AI to recall what happened on a certain date
  • Ask your AI to find entries about a person, project, or topic
  • Keep your notes private on your own machine instead of a cloud service
  • Change or delete any entry yourself at any time

What it gives back to you

You get back the matching entries from your own notes, with their dates and text, shown inside the chat. Your AI then uses those entries to answer your question in plain words. It can also give you a short summary built from what it found. Nothing is changed in your notes unless you edit them yourself in the Hub.

Before you start

What you need

  • Python installed on your computer
  • The Claude desktop app
  • A few minutes to paste the LocalKeep instructions into Claude's personal preferences

Good to know

When your AI looks something up, the matching notes it finds are sent to Anthropic as part of the chat, so only write things there you are comfortable sharing that way.
