This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to the Apple Notes app on your Mac. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to find a note, read one, or write a new one, and it will do it in your real Notes app. It is handy if you keep your lists, meeting notes, and ideas in Apple Notes and want your AI to work with them directly.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to Apple Notes on your Mac, so when you ask about a note, the AI can actually look it up or change it in the Notes app for you. You do not need to copy and paste anything between the two.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something about your notes, like listing what is in a folder or searching for a word. The AI passes your request to this helper program running quietly on your Mac. The helper reads your Notes database to find or search notes, and it uses Apple's own scripting to read, create, update, or delete them. When you create a note, it writes your text as a properly formatted note with real headings, bold, and lists, not plain text. Then the AI shows you the result right in the chat.

What you can do with it

  • List all your notes, or just the ones in a certain folder
  • Search your notes by keyword
  • Read a full note and show it to you as clean text
  • Create a new note with headings, bold, and lists that look right in Apple Notes
  • Update an existing note by replacing its content
  • Delete a note (it goes to Recently Deleted, same as doing it by hand)

Try asking your AI

  • “List all my notes in the Projects folder”
  • “Search my notes for meeting agenda”
  • “Read my Shopping List note”
  • “Create a note in Work with today's action items”
  • “Update my Shopping List with these new items”

What it gives back to you

You get answers in plain chat: a list of note titles, a search result, or the full text of a note. When you create or update a note, the AI tells you it is done, and you can open Apple Notes to see the new or changed note. Deleting moves the note to Recently Deleted, and the AI confirms that too.

Before you start

What you need

  • A Mac running macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later
  • Node.js 24 or newer installed
  • Permission for node to have Full Disk Access (to read your Notes database)
  • Permission for node to have Accessibility (to confirm the import dialog when creating notes)

Good to know

It can change and delete your real notes, and updating a note replaces the whole content, so ask your AI to read the note first if you only want a small change.

Install it with your AI
