Simple Timeserver MCP server
by andybrandt
Give your AI the correct time, timezones, countdowns, and public holiday info.

This is a small helper that gives your AI a sense of time. Normally, your AI has no idea what time or day it is, which makes it awkward when you ask things like what's the date today. This server fixes that, and it can also look up holidays and count days between dates.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. It cannot look at a clock or check a calendar. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect to your AI, and it gives your AI one new skill. This one connects your AI to a time source and a holiday database, so it can tell you the real time and check dates for you when you ask.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like what time is it in Tokyo, or how many days until December 31. Your AI passes the question to this helper. The helper checks the time from a time server on the internet (or your own computer's clock for local time) and looks up holidays from public holiday databases. Then it sends the answer back, and your AI tells it to you in plain words in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Ask what time it is right now, anywhere in the world
- Count the days between two dates, like a countdown to a deadline
- Check whether a specific date is a public holiday in a country
- List all public holidays for a country in a given year
- See school holiday periods for a region or city
- Convert the current time into other calendars like Japanese or Hebrew
- Count only business days between two dates, skipping weekends and holidays
Try asking your AI
- “What time is it in Warsaw right now?”
- “How many days until December 31?”
- “Is January 1st a public holiday in Germany?”
- “List the public holidays in Japan for 2026”
What it gives back to you
You get a short, plain answer in the chat. For time questions, it tells you the time, the day of the week, and the timezone. For holiday questions, it gives you a list or a simple yes or no. For countdowns, it gives you a number, like 42 days or 6 weeks.
