Time Node MCP server
by davidan90
Lets your AI tell you the correct time and date in any timezone, and convert times between them.

This is a small helper that fixes a very common problem: your AI guessing the wrong date or time because it does not know what timezone you are in. Once it is connected, you can ask things like what time it is in Tokyo, or what 3pm in London means for your colleague in New York. It is handy for anyone who works with people in other countries or travels a lot.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. It does not know today's date, and it has no idea what timezone you live in. An MCP server is a small helper program you connect to your AI that gives it one new skill. This one gives your AI a proper clock and a timezone map, so it can look up the real time anywhere in the world and do the math for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about time or dates, like what time it is in Sydney right now. Your AI passes the question to this helper program running on your computer. The helper checks the real time using your computer's clock and the official timezone rules, including daylight saving changes. It sends the answer back, and your AI tells it to you in plain words in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Get the current time in any city or timezone
- Convert a meeting time from one timezone to another
- Find out what day of the week a date falls on
- Check your computer's own timezone setting
- Get today's date in a specific country
- See the time in a readable format, not just numbers
Try asking your AI
- “What time is it in Tokyo right now?”
- “If it is 2:30pm in New York, what time is that in London?”
- “What day of the week is 12 August 2024 in Sydney?”
- “What is my computer's timezone, and what time is it here?”
What it gives back to you
You get a short answer in the chat: the time, the date, or the converted time, in the format you asked for. It can show a simple number, a full readable sentence, or a standard date format. If something is wrong, like a misspelled timezone, it tells you clearly instead of guessing.
Before you start
What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer installed on your computer
- The Claude desktop app (or another AI app that supports MCP servers)
- A few minutes to download and build the project once
Good to know
It only reads the time and does not change anything, but the answers depend on your computer's clock and timezone being set correctly.
