LaTeX PDF MCP server
Turn LaTeX text or a ready-made template into a finished PDF, right from your chat.

This is a small helper that lets your AI turn LaTeX into a real PDF file. LaTeX is a way of writing documents using plain text and simple formatting commands, often used for reports, resumes and research papers. It is handy if you already write in LaTeX, or if you want a tidy PDF without fighting with a word processor.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to another tool. This one connects your AI to a LaTeX setup on your own computer, so it can write LaTeX for you and turn it into a PDF. You ask in normal words, and the helper does the technical part behind the scenes.
What this MCP server does
You tell your AI what document you want, and it writes the LaTeX for you. The AI passes that text to this helper, which saves it as a .tex file. If a LaTeX program called pdflatex is installed, the helper also builds a matching .pdf. You then get the file back in your folder, ready to open or send. If pdflatex is not installed, you still get the .tex file, just without the PDF.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Turn a block of LaTeX you already have into a PDF
- Pick one of the built-in templates, like a resume or invoice, and fill it in
- List the templates that are available so you can choose one
- Look at the raw contents of a template before you use it
- List the files that have been produced so far
- Write a short report, letter or cover letter as a PDF
Try asking your AI
- “Make me a one-page resume PDF using the resume template. My name is Alex, I work in marketing, and here are my three past jobs.”
- “Here is some LaTeX for a short report. Please turn it into a PDF.”
- “Show me the list of templates you have.”
- “What files have you produced so far?”
What it gives back to you
You get a short reply in the chat telling you what was created and where it was saved. The actual files land in the artifacts folder: a .tex file, and a .pdf if the LaTeX program is available. When you ask for a list, you get a simple list of file names back. The chat itself shows text, not the PDF, so you open the file from the folder.
Before you start
What you need
- Python 3.10 or newer
- The project files from GitHub, installed on your computer
- A LaTeX program called pdflatex if you want PDFs (optional; without it you only get .tex files)
- The Claude desktop app, if you want to use it from Claude
Good to know
It writes files on your computer and can run LaTeX code, so only use templates and LaTeX you trust, and keep any web-style connection private to your own machine.
Install it with your AI
Add LaTeX PDF MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check LaTeX PDF MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
People who write reports, resumes, letters or research papers and want a clean PDF without learning a full document editor.
